by isleofman.com 29th January 2010

The bid to redevelop the Bowl in time for next year’s Commonwealth Youth Games has reached the 11th hour.

Earlier this week, Douglas Council agreed to transfer the facility to central government for ?1 if they wished to proceed with the ?3.4 million refurbishment.

However, government officials say the surrounding car park would also need to form part of the deal.

Chairman of the Commonwealth Youth Games organising committee, Geoff Karran, says the matter has to be resolved almost immediately if the showpiece is to be ready in time.
