Community service recommended for drug offender

by isleofman.com 28th January 2010

An 18-year-old Douglas man who had ?40 worth of cannabis bush posted to him from the United Kingdom has been bailed for sentencing.

Nicholas Kennaugh Convery, of First Avenue, admitted being involved in the importation of the drug.

Convery told police he tried to get the bush sent to him from someone he knew as 'Barry', because he couldn't get what he wanted locally.

The prosecution said police went to a post office with a sniffer dog on December 22.

The dog found the drugs wrapped in a condom in a package addressed to Convery.

He was subsequently arrested in Granville Street on suspicion of importation and made a full confession.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle bailed Convery until February 19, with a recommendation for community service.
