Major roadworks to begin

by isleofman.com 27th January 2010

Major roadworks will be carried out at the edge of Douglas' financial district from the start of next month for up to six weeks.

Peel Road at its junction with Athol Street is one of the capital's busiest sections of road.

The Department of Transport says vehicles heading into the town centre get held up by those looking to turn right down Banks Hill.

The DoT's highway schemes manager Jim Davidson says they're looking to make a few improvements, for pedestrians and vehicles.

The DoT says the work will start on Monday, February 1 and finish no later than Friday, March 19.

During that time the section of Peel Road between Athol Street and Circular Road will be one way heading out of town.
