A Manx bird watcher has been convicted of disturbing a protected species.
John Andrew Cottier set up a series of hides around a hen harrier nest and repeatedly approached it to take photographs over an extended period of time.
Police said Mr Cottier had been extremely cooperative with their inquiries, which also involved an investigator from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, after they received a tip-off this summer.
High Bailliff Michael Moyle imposed a fine of ?500 for the offence of intentionally or recklessly disturbing the nest, dependent young or adults of a protected species.
