Health Minister Eddie Teare believes his meeting about the ending of the Reciprocal Health Agreement with UK Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham wasn't a waste of time.
Whilst he didn't believe Mr Burnham was going to change his mind, it gave him and Chief Minister Tony Brown a chance to clarify the effects the decision would have on the Island.
Yesterday (Monday), MP Andrew McKinlay said he understood his intervention in Westminster on the Island's behalf hadn't been welcomed by all in Tynwald and he still believed more pressure should have been exerted on health chiefs earlier.
But Mr Teare says his meeting with Mr Burnham was very helpful and hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Mr Teare says he believes the reason for the loss of the agreement is straightforward and the UK doesn't have an underlying desire to see the Island suffer.
