A 74-year-old man is in hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Kirk Michael yesterday evening.
It happened just after 6.30pm on Main Road, at its junction with Station Road.
Police say the collision involved a silver hatchback driven by a 48-year-old man from Ballaugh, and the man, who was on foot at the time.
He was seriously injured and is currently detained in Noble's Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
The vehicle driver was also taken to hospital for treatment, but was later discharged.
The road was closed for around three-and-a-half hours.
An investigation into the incident has been launched by the Roads Policing Unit.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was in the area of Station Road, Kirk Michael between 6.20pm and 6.40pm.
