DHSS highlights importance of Vitamin D

Alarm bells are ringing in the United Kingdom over a possible return of rickets, a disease associated in the past with a lack of Vitamin D.

It can develop through insufficient exposure to sunshine and it's claimed modern children, sitting indoors with their hand held computers, could be victims.

In the Isle of Man, the issue is being tied in with the 'Safe in the Sun' campaign, and senior heath promotions officer Angela Howland says it's as important as ever to make sure youngsters have a balanced diet:
