DHSS examining health insurance situation

A political member of the Department of Health and Social Security says he understands the frustration felt by Isle of Man residents over having to buy insurance to go across the Irish Sea.

But Bill Henderson says the DHSS simply doesn’t have the money to pay for people's bills from UK hospitals, after the termination of the Reciprocal Health Agreement on March 31.

Mr Henderson says the issue is far from over at the department, with a whole range of possibilities being looked into by senior management.

However, finding ?3 million a year to pay the UK isn't an option:
