Political jobs at risk over health agreement ending, warns MLC

A senior politician has warned MHKs they may lose their seats at the next election over the ending of the reciprocal health agreement with the United Kingdom.

David Callister MLC says a public backlash over the issue could see members out of a job in 2011.

He says he's not known so much anger over one subject on the Isle of Man in the last twenty years: (play audio clip)

After a passionate debate, Tynwald members voted against establishing a select committee to look into the ending of the agreement with the United Kingdom.

From April first, people travelling to or from the UK will need to be covered by health or travel insurance.
