Improvements scheme offers 'major benefits'

The Isle of Man's most dangerous road is to be made safer under a ?3 million scheme approved by Tynwald.

After more than 20 accidents on Richmond Hill in the past three years, engineers have drawn up plans to improve drivers' views and remove dangerous cambers and corners.

Six members voting against the scheme, largely because of the high cost at a time of falling government revenues.

Minister for Transport David Anderson welcomed the vote in favour, saying it would bring major benefits for drivers and pedestrians:
