Home Affairs Department Member Bill Malarkey MHK presented Probation Service administrator Anne Dooley with a nationally accredited DANOS certificate this morning (Tuesday 19th January).
DANOS – Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards – is a correspondence course, which candidates have to complete within one year. Anne completed a Level 2 Certificate in Drug Awareness in around three months.
Mr Malarkey said, "It is pleasing to present this certificate in recognition of Anne’s dedication to Probation. She has constantly sought to undertake relevant study to develop her career and I wish her well in the future."
Having previously worked in retail, Anne started work with the Probation Service on a temporary contract in 2003, after undertaking the Department of Trade and Industry’s office technology course. She was then able to complete the NVQ Level II in Business Administration thanks to the varied work she was undertaking at Probation.
Anne commented, "Since joining the Probation Service on a fulltime basis, one of the variety of duties I have been involved in is providing administration for the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Programme. I was asked if I would be interested in undertaking the DANOS training to widen my knowledge in the area and I was happy to do it."
Further career development training Anne is planning to undertake is an Open University degree course in Social Work, starting in a couple of years.
