Minister explains rationalisation of DAFF

The Department of Agriculture is to be streamlined.

Its six divisions are to be slimmed down to four, namely Agriculture; Fisheries; Forestry, Amenity and Lands; and Corporate Services.

Under the new structure the Agriculture Services Division will combine with Animal Health to create what's being described as a broader Agriculture Division.

The Wildlife and Conservation Division will be dissolved, with staff being relocated to the divisions relevant to their specialist skills.

The rationalisation coincides with the department's move to the new purpose built headquarters in St John's.

On Mandate today, Minister Phil Gawne said he hoped officers from the Wildlife Division would be able to work even more effectively under the new structure:
