Glimmer of hope for health agreement?

by isleofman.com 19th January 2010

Chief Minister Tony Brown and Health Minister Eddie Teare are in London today for talks to try and save the Isle of Man's Reciprocal Health Agreement with the United Kingdom.

The meeting with UK Health Secretary Andy Burnham is widely seen as their last chance to salvage the deal.

It comes amid repeated warnings from both Mr Brown and Mr Teare that the UK has already made up its mind to end the agreement, but it does offer a glimmer of hope.

Mr Brown says they will give it their best shot, even though saving the agreement would eat into hard-pressed Manx Government budgets:

Tony Brown will report back to Tynwald on the meeting, tomorrow.
