The Department of Health says there's no cause for alarm after a doctor who had been working in the Isle of Man was temporarily suspended from practice by the General Medical Council.
Surgeon Mr Adolph Poellman carried out procedures on many patients during the DHSS's Waiting List Initiative at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital.
Health Minister Eddie Teare says he's pleased that so many patients had their operations carried out and were well cared for by Mr Poellman.
He says his department is now aware Mr Poellman has been temporarily suspended from practice by the Interim Orders Panel of the GMC but adds that it's a precautionary measure and there has been no finding against him.
Mr Poellman's treatment of patients has been reviewed by the GMC which has confirmed it was 'appropriate and with acceptable outcomes'.
Mr Teare goes on to say his department has been very happy with Mr Poellman's work and he has received many complementary remarks from satisfied patients.
He says it would be wrong for him to comment any further until the GMC has concluded its enquiries.
