A meeting of the All Island Pubwatch Committee last week approved a request from Western Pubwatch to extend their regional ban Islandwide. It is the first comprehensive ban since the scheme was launched in October 2009.
Additionally, under an agreement reached late last year, the ban, which lasts 12 months, is automatically extended to all nightclubs and off licensed premises on the Isle of Man.
Chairman of All Island Pubwatch Steve McDowell said, "The ban relates to a 36-year-old woman who is currently going through the court process for alleged assaults on licensed premises.
"The decision to issue the first all Island ban was not taken lightly. There was a lengthy discussion on the subject before the committee reached its decision, which was unanimous.
"The ban was effective immediately (from 12th January) and all licensed premises will be circulated with the person’s photograph by tomorrow (19th January). A letter has been sent to the woman to advise that she is banned from all licensed premises.
"As I emphasised at the time we launched the All Island Pubwatch, members do not seek to impose these bans but this is the consequence of unacceptable behaviour on licensed premises, and we have a duty to our other customers to prevent it happening again."
Department of Home Affairs political Member with responsibility for the Drug and Alcohol Strategy, Bill Malarkey MHK, commented, "This serves to warn people that the all Island ban was not an empty threat.
"It sends out a clear message that Pubwatch will not tolerate disruptive behaviour in pubs and I hope it will encourage people to drink responsibly."
Recipients of Pubwatch bans have 28 days to appeal against the decision.
