by isleofman.com 16th January 2010

The Chief Minister has described his former colleague Captain Andrew Douglas who died on Friday as a popular man who made a strong contribution to public life.

Captain Douglas died in Hospice at the age of 66.

After a career at sea, rising from cadet to ship's captain, he was elected MHK for Malew and Santon in 2002, serving in the Keys for four years.

Chief Minister Tony Brown says his memories of Captain Douglas are all positive and that he took events in his stride - including a battering from the weather on one memorable occasion.
