Call for Island to help Haiti victims

by isleofman.com 16th January 2010

An appeal is going out to Isle of Man residents to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake.

The Caribbean republic is one of the poorest in the world and the quake which struck on Tuesday shattered the country, destroying thousands of homes and killing an estimated 45,000.

The Rotary Club of Onchan is one of the Manx organisations trying to help with relief efforts by providing Aquabox water purifiers.

Press Officer Nigel Dobson says the scale of the disaster is hard to grasp.

Anyone wanting to make a donation is asked to call Nigel Dobson on 200515 or call in to the Liverpool Arms.
