The recent snowy and freezing conditions on the Island may have caused damage to our roads.
Department of Transport staff are out and about inspecting them.
Extra gangs will be drafted in to fill in potholes and undertake any patching necessary.
The department says potholes are caused when water enters the road surface, expanding and contracting as it freezes and thaws.
The continual freeze/thaw cycle weakens the structure of the road and when traffic drives over the area the road material becomes loose and is pulled out by the vehicle tyres.
Although carrying out its own checks, the DoT says it welcomes reports of potholes from members of the public.
You call the department on 686665 during office hours to report them.
