The Department of Transport says it'll carry out an inspection on Monday morning to check how much work - snow clearance and possible repairs - needs to be done.
Snow and ice is melting lower down but there's still quite a lot on the upper parts.
The thaw is expected to continue over the weekend and it's hoped the road will be opened early next week, once the DoT is satisfied it's safe.
The department warns that although the webcams may show significant improvements in the weather conditions up there, this is not the case for other areas of the Mountain Road, where snow is still deep in places and visibility remains poor.
