by isleofman.com 15th January 2010

A Manx organization is looking for donations to provide aid to survivors of the Haiti earthquake.

More than 45,000 people are thought to have died in the magnitude seven quake which levelled hundreds of buildings in the country's capital Port-au-Prince.

Survivors in the Caribbean republic, which is one of the world's poorest countries, are now desperate for shelter, water and food and a huge international relief effort is under way.

Rotary Club of Onchan Press Secretary Nigel Dobson says Manx residents can help in a simple but vital way: (play audio clip)

Anyone able to help or wanting to make a donation is asked to call Nigel Dobson on 200515 or call in to the Liverpool Arms.
