Good progress on landslide repairs, says DoT

by isleofman.com 15th January 2010

Hundreds of tons of stone have been used to start repairing the bank under Bay View Road in Port St Mary.

It follows a landslide at the start of the week which forced a dozen homes and businesses to be evacuated.

The Department of Transport says it completed stabilisation of the slip on Thursday evening, using 650 tons of 'clean stone' from Stoney Mountain Quarry.

Since then, five cubic metres of cement have been poured into the cavity.

Heavy rain has created more problems for the crews who will continue working over the weekend.

Meanwhile the main road through the village, Bay View Road, remains closed to traffic.
