by isleofman.com 14th January 2010

The inquest into how a 72 year-old woman died of choking in a residential care home was opened and adjourned in Douglas this morning (Thursday).

Mary Margaret Leontia McDonnell's body was found at the Glenside home on Sunday morning.

A post-mortem examination found she’d died of asphyxiation from choking.

The inquest was adjourned for further reports and to allow police to take statements from staff at the care home - although Coroner Michael Moyle stressed there was no suspicion of negligence.

He also released Mrs McDonnell's body to her family for funeral arrangements to be made.
