Man smashes car windscreen - police appeal

by isleofman.com 14th January 2010

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a man smashed the window of a car, covering those inside in broken glass.

It happened around 4pm on Tuesday (Jan 12) by the junction with Alder Road and Springfield Road in Pulrose.

He smashed the glass in the driver's door, causing a cut to the driver and showering all those inside with glass.

The man was confronted by two of the people in the car before leaving the area before police arrived.

He's described as white, in his early 30’s, around five foot seven in height, with a stocky/athletic build and very short hair.

He was wearing a dark coloured jacket with dark trousers.

Police say the residential area would have been busy at the time with parents returning home after picking up children from school.

Officers say they would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or who were in the area at the time and saw a man fitting the description.

If you can help you should ring police on 631212 or use the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

It's being stressed such incidents are rare on the Island and they are taken very seriously.
