Public urged to attend planning meeting

by isleofman.com 14th January 2010

A public meeting this evening is being described as a chance to shape the future of Ballakilley.

It's been organised by the Ballakilley Working Party and Rushen Commissioners, and those who attend will consider the future of the 30 acre site.

There is a strong feeling among southern residents that the land should be preserved as a 'green belt', with perhaps a small number of new homes.

Many also believe public opinion in relation to the area has been ignored in the recently published Draft Area Plan for the south of the Island.

Rushen commissioner Adrian Tinkler says tonight's meeting is a chance for people to air their views ahead of the closing date for submissions on the draft plan, which must be received by the Department of Local Government and the Environment by January 29 (play audio file):

The meeting is at Ballafesson Hall, at 7pm.
