Public encouraged to get gritting!

by isleofman.com 14th January 2010

Road conditions are generally much improved from this time last week, but grit salt is being provided for members of the public, should they need it.

The Department of Local Government and the Environment and the Department of Transport have worked together to ensure quantities of salt are available at the Island's civic amenity centres.

The public are being encouraged to fill strong bags or buckets with the salt and keep it until it's needed in the future.

Salt won't be available at the Western Civic Amenity Site until January 19 but can be picked up from the DoT's Ellerslie or Glen Duff depots during working hours.

Companies are able to buy commercial quantities by arrangement with the department.
