Man in cannabis case gets one more chance

by isleofman.com 13th January 2010

A man who admitted possessing cannabis resin has been told he has had his last chance and will go to jail unless he mends his ways.

Twenty-five-year-old Barry John Devlin, of Loch Promenade in Douglas, appeared before High Bailiff Michael Moyle this week.

He admitted possessing 4.6g cannabis resin on October 31 last year, and was in court for sentencing.

Mr Moyle was told Devlin had previous convictions for drugs, but accepted he had to stop using them and change his life.

The court heard he had been cooperative with police after his arrest, and told officers the drugs were for his own personal use.

Mr Moyle imposed a 14 week jail term, suspended for two years, and ordered him to submit to random testing twice a month.

Fining Devlin ?250, he told him this was his final chance and if he failed a single drug test he would face a long prison sentence.
