Farmer just managed to save his cattle

A Manx farmer has spoken of the night his barn burned down and the struggle to save his prized herd.

Alan Teare farms at Ballakelly and Ballasteen in Andreas and last week's blaze destroyed thousands of pounds worth of straw and farming equipment, as well as the barn itself.

The inferno took nearly 16 hours to fully extinguish and the Fire and Rescue Services says it was one of the worst incidents of its type in recent years.

Mr Teare says he and his neighbours got the livestock out just in time:
