Laser dazzles aircraft - police probe launched

by isleofman.com 13th January 2010

Police are investigating after an aircraft flying over the Island at 30,000 feet reported that a laser had been shone at it.

The incident happened just after 9pm on Saturday night (Jan 9) and was reported to the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.

A green laser light was again reported shining up into the sky from the Janet's Corner area of Castletown on Monday night.

The incident has happened at a time when police in the UK have reported a 25 fold increase in pilots being dazzled by lasers.

Sergeant Phil Drowley from Castletown police hopes this is an isolated case and is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
