Swine flu investment justified, says health director

by isleofman.com 11th January 2010

There wasn't an overreaction to swine flu, according to the Director of Public Health.

Dr Parameswaran Kishore says the public expected the Manx government to make sure we were ready for a pandemic and they acted accordingly.

The government stockpiled enough tamiflu to treat 25 per cent of the adult population and 50 per cent of the Island's children, but the uptake has been quite small.

Dr Kishore doesn't believe it was a waste of money though and says it should be possible to return the unused vaccines.
