Call for Island armed forces recognition

by isleofman.com 11th January 2010

An attempt is being made for the Island to be represented at the Cenotaph each Remembrance Sunday.

The move in Westminster by a number of MPs calls for residents from the Crown Dependencies who have served in the forces to be acknowledged in the commemoration.

Andrew Rosindell, chairman of the British Isle of Man All-Parliamentary Group, had previously said it was 'shameful' that representatives were not allowed to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday and that the flags of their nations were not flown for the trooping of the colour.

He’s one of the politicians calling for the House of Commons to recognise the enormous contribution by members of the armed services from each of the crown dependencies, as they do to members of the Commonwealth of Nations.
