Windfarm gets the go-ahead

by isleofman.com 8th January 2010

A huge new wind farm lying in the middle of the Steam Packet’s route to Liverpool has been approved by the UK government.

It’s one of nine developments which has been granted a license today (Friday) and will be built by Centrica.

The Irish Sea Zone will provide 4.2 gigawatts of electricity to the UK’s National Grid but may force ferries to divert around it.

Building work on the vast wind farm is expected to start in 2013.
