by isleofman.com 8th January 2010

A record number of people braved the elements to see the recent Christmas pantomime, Peter Pan.

Over 12,000 people saw the Dreamster Productions pantomime, breaking the attendance record by over 1,200 customers set by last year’s pantomime (Aladdin).

Gary Chatel, Co-founder of Dreamstar Productions, said, "Everyone involved with Dreamstar had a great time this Christmas at the Gaiety Theatre.

"The number of people who came to see us has been amazing and as always with Dreamstar, it’s a team effort from backstage, the Dreamstar kids, and the actors.

"We are a local company for local people and we are over the moon with the way the Manx public support us.  See you all next year with a glittering version of Cinderella."

Minister for Tourism and Leisure Martyn Quayle MHK said, "It has been a wonderful festive season at the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre.

"We have had the official opening of the Villa Marina Arcade, been treated to the first performance of the Wurlitzer in a sell out concert by Len Rawle, the Sure Skate Ice Rink HAS received well in excess of 20,000 visitors and has been extended by two weeks and the pantomime has set an attendance record for the Gaiety Theatre."

He added, "I would like to thank everyone that has visited the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre for their support and hope that they have all enjoyed their experiences.  I look forward to them returning to the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre for more top quality entertainment throughout the year."
