Avoiding frozen water pipes

The Isle of Man Water Authority is giving new advice on how to avoid being stuck without supplies during the freezing weather.

The prolonged cold spell means frozen water pipes are a very real possibility, as one Douglas resident found out the hard way, earlier this week.

His house, in Drinkwater Street, became cut off on Monday night after a pipe froze and burst.

Chief executive of the Isle of Man Water Authority John Smith says his team dealt with the situation, but it could easily have been avoided:
