Bus routes to schools are being cleared

by isleofman.com 6th January 2010

It won't be welcome news for the Island's children but every effort is being made to ensure schools will be open tomorrow.

Their enforced closure due to adverse weather conditions has extended the Christmas and New Year holiday by an unexpected two days.

Department of Transport workers are now concentrating on making sure access to schools is possible tomorrow, as well as restoring all bus routes.

The largest schools are being dealt with first with the smaller schools taking a lower priority.

Working through the night, department staff helped clear the Island's major road routes by this morning, as well as restocking salt boxes to allow the public to clear their local areas.
