Roadwatch: All Main Routes Now Open

by isleofman.com 6th January 2010

The Department of Transport has confirmed that, other than the Mountain Road, all primary routes are now 'secure', with many other roads 'passable with great care'.

It is now focusing its efforts on helping schools to reopen and supporting the bus operations.

Director of Works Jeff Robinson explains, "Works Division teams worked through the night to secure primary and secondary routes.  We are now turning our attention to schools and bus routes.

"Generally, we will be working from the bigger schools down, making sure they have secure bus routes in, and clearing and gritting pavements radiating out from the schools and gritting the car parks in and around the schools.

"Additionally, we will continue to fill salt boxes so that members of the public can help secure their location. The Department would like to thank members of the public for their support."

Further Information

Cronk-y-Voddy is currently being inspected with a view to opening it later today.  Other roads remaining closed are Brandywell Road, Druidale, Injebreck, Tholt-y-Will, and The Sloc.

Should members of the public require assistance, they can contact the Department on its emergency number - 672000.
