Police urge extra care on the roads

by isleofman.com 6th January 2010

Following yesterday's heavy snowfalls and further sub-zero temperatures overnight, police are telling motorists there is more need than ever to drive responsibly.

Major routes which remained open during the hours of darkness are now likely to be very challenging, and again the advice is to avoid travelling unless it is absolutely necessary.

Police say conditions on minor roads and housing estates are difficult and will remain so, and pedestrians are being advised to take care on all pavements, which are likely to be treacherous.

There is also a reminder that it is illegal to travel on closed roads, and anyone doing so can put themselves, the emergency services and road workers at risk.
