DoT well prepared for icy conditions

Department of Transport gritting teams have been working through the night to clear the Island's main routes.

But the lack of heavy traffic yesterday means much of the snow has not yet been 'driven into' the road surfaces, making the whole process less efficient.

The advice remains: 'don't use your car unless you have to, and assess road conditions near your home before you leave'.

Transport Minister David Anderson says the department is well prepared for the freeze and has good stocks of road salt:
