'Keep an eye on the elderly' says charity

by isleofman.com 5th January 2010

Age Concern in the Isle of Man is appealing to the Manx public to make sure any elderly neighbours are staying warm and have enough to eat.

There's concern that senior citizens isolated in their homes may be without water, as pipes in some parts of the Island froze last night.

Day centres run by the charity are closed today and there will be no Meals on Wheels service either.

Chief executive Penny Creighton says Age Concern's drivers cannot get their vehicles round many of the Island's roads (play audio file):

The number for Meals on Wheels is 687308.
