Cregeen case highlights 'patronage issue'

Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen has found an unlikely champion in the form of Onchan MHK Peter Karran.

Mr Karran believes the former political member of the Department of Tourism and Leisure was treated 'disgracefully' when he was recently forced to leave, after publicly questioning some of the department's policies.

Mr Cregeen later claimed that government didn't like honesty and integrity.

Mr Karran says he has been badly treated and the issue highlights the issue of patronage in the ministerial system of government, which has concerned him for some time:
