Planning technicality holds up allotments

The man behind the proposed community allotments between Braaid and St Mark's says he is amazed that he is having to re-submit a planning application for a car park.

Howard Quayle donated land for the scheme and, after a large number of people expressed an interest, sought permission to widen the access gateway to the plots.

The application, submitted last year, also included hard-standing for cars to park off the road.

The plans showed hard-standing, but the car park was refused because the wording on the application wasn't correct.

Mr Quayle says he doesn't understand why obstacles are being put in his way when he's doing something which is clearly popular and well supported.

He says the setback will take six months or more to overcome:
