Police team opens new channel of communication

by isleofman.com 4th January 2010

The Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team has launched its own Facebook page.

It's hoped it will allow greater access to the police by the community, particularly in the north of the Island.

Members of the public will be able to post comments and pictures and take part in online discussions.

Sergeant Mark Newey says the page will be updated with items of interest and officers will contribute to discussions on the page.

It will also enable members of the community who don't wish to travel to the station in Ramsey to have their say from the comfort of their own homes.

However, it's being stressed the page is not meant for reporting crime.

That should continue to be done in the usual way, either to Police Headquarters in Douglas (telephone number 631212) or a local station.
