Consultation on licences for sea fishing

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is considering bringing in licences for sea fishing in a move which could prove unpopular with hobby anglers.

DAFF Minister Phil Gawne says a small number of fishermen are causing problems which his department has no way of dealing with.

He says a consultation exercise has begun to find out what people think of introducing new licences which anyone planning to fish in the sea, either from boats or the shore, would need.
