Divisions between the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom should accelerate progress towards full independence.
That was the message given to a crowd of around 160 Manx nationalists, who gathered at Hango Hill in Castletown for the annual Illiam Dhone commemoration at the weekend.
The event honours a man regarded by nationalists as a martyr and takes place at the site of his execution.
The loss of VAT revenue and free health care in the UK are thought to have triggered an upswell of nationalist opinion in recent months.
More graffiti slogans in support of the nationalist cause appeared on a wall at Hango Hill, and this year the wreath was laid by the a founding member of the new group Mannin Aboo, or Mannin Forever.
