A second special meeting of Douglas Borough Council has been arranged, to discuss the proposed refurbishment of the Bowl.
Following a formal request by six councillors, the Mayor, Michael Gelling, has arranged for a public sitting at 2.30pm on Friday (January 8).
The local authority has withdrawn its 50 per cent contribution to the cost of the ?3 million scheme, saying the burden on ratepayers cannot be justified in the present economic climate.
But councillors will be interested to hear the government's responses to a number of questions raised at a presentation on the Bowl scheme, at the NSC on December 21.
One of the issues for which clarification is required is the period over which the council would have been required to borrow the money to fund its share of the scheme.
It has been stated the annual loan charges over a period of 15 years would have been ?130,000 and there is a feeling councillors might view the picture a little differently if that figure could be reduced, by doubling the borrowing term.
