The Manx Government is happy to continue trying to persuade the United Kingdom that both parties would benefit if the Reciprocal Health Agreement continued beyond the proposed termination date, at the end of the current financial year.
Chief Minister Tony Brown sees the forthcoming meeting between the Island's Health Minister Eddie Teare and UK Secretary of State for Health Andy Burnham, MP, as a worthwhile attempt to try and save the arrangement being scrapped.
The Manx Government was told the agreement was being dropped because it wasn't in the best interests of the UK's taxpayers, and since then representations have continued to be made at a high level, expressing the Island's dissatisfaction.
Member of the UK parliament Andrew MacKinlay has taken up the Island's cause, and it's through his efforts the meeting with Mr Burnham is being arranged.
Mr Brown says talking to the Health Secretary certainly won't be a waste of time, but there has been no indication to date that the UK is about the change its mind:
