The member of Tynwald with responsibility for the Island's police force is praising the work of officers in the difficult area of controlling the use of so called 'legal high' drugs.

Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw says until a few days ago nobody was breaking the law when they used such substances, but the constabulary still had to deal with potentially tricky situations.

He is welcoming the recent criminalisation of products including GBL, BZP and 'Spice' and says Mephadrone, the highest profile 'legal high' drug in the Isle of Man, will be added to the list by the spring at the latest.

He's fully behind Health Minister Eddie Teare's moves to make Mephadrone illegal, and the work of the police during the interim period.
