Festival organiser thanks supporters

by isleofman.com 31st December 2009

There's a last chance to get involved in one of the Island's most popular Christmas fund raising events.

The Festival of Trees at the airport raises around ?8,000 each year for Save the Children, and creates a stunning spectacle for travellers.

Trees are decorated in original ways to reflect the theme of a Manx business or community group.

There are just a few days left for the public to vote for their favourite tree and make a small donation.

Vice president of Save the Children in the Island Rosemary Walters says support for the event has been superb (play audio file):

The trees will be dismantled from Sunday afternoon, so anybody wanting to vote and make a donation to charity will have to do so soon.
