Part of Derby Square in Douglas was closed to pedestrians and traffic for around two hours this evening (Wednesday), after scaffolding became unstable.
Police said it posed a considerable potential danger, and asked members of the public to stay away while it was made safe.
The area was reopened shortly before 7pm.
Meanwhile, Peveril Square in Douglas reopened this afternoon after high winds dislodged roof tiles from the Lloyds TSB building.
Traffic had to be diverted around the Sea Terminal car park for several hours in order to access Loch Promenade.
Parking on Douglas Promenade remains suspended until further notice due to the high seas and winds.
Out of town, the Sloc road was closed between Ballakilpheric and the Round Table due to ice and snow.
The Mountain Road was open and the Tholt-y-Will road reopened shortly after 1pm.
However, the West Baldwin, Druidale and Brandywell roads remained closed, with police due to review the situation tomorrow morning.
