Keep clean to prevent spread of virus

by isleofman.com 30th December 2009

There have been outbreaks of what's thought to be Norovirus at two nursing homes in the Isle of Man.

The first cases of the illness, also called the winter vomiting Virus, started on Christmas day.

The other outbreak was a few days later.

Director of Public Health Dr Parameswaran Kishore doesn't think the virus will spread widely, providing proper precautions are taken (play audio file):

People who believe they have the virus are being told to stay away from Noble's Hospital and GPs' surgeries and seek advice by phone if required.

Basic hygiene procedures should also be followed, and hands washed thoroughly on a regular basis.
