New work permit legislation comes into force on January 1.
The major change is an extension of the general exemption period during which a permit is not required, from three to ten working days a year.
It's hoped it will make the Island an easier place to do business, by reducing the administrative burden on employers.
The Department of Trade and Industry says, at the same time, it will protect the essential interests of Isle of Man workers.
Also included is a longer exemption period for certain higher level employees of international companies.
The DTI says this is in recognition of the fact such companies need to be able to move staff between jurisdictions.
The exemption period is a maximum of 48 days a year, but not all jobs are covered and the exeptions are subject to certain conditions.
The changes have come about following feedback from a consultation exercise.
